res. 1580...Held a lease of property in Lugwardine comprising tithes, barns and
houses.
-Shared the lease of a "moiety" (a portion or half) of the Rectory of Lugwardine with John Scudamore
of Holme Lacey (and other persons). Document unsigned but it was stated to
concern "edmd. Traheyrons".
d. 1607 St Peter's, Hereford
aka Triherne, Trehearne, Traheyrons, Treherne
In his will dated 29 March 1607, he left bequests of money to all his 21
grand-children (by his daughters), and to his sister Margaret Chandler (118) he
left 26/8d. His son Edward received no bequest but Edward's supposed son
(?illegitimate), Edward, was left 20/-. Edmund gave, to the parish church of
Lugwardine, a bellrope and to the poor of that parish, 10/-. To his parish
church of St Peter's, Hereford and to Hereford Cathedral, he gave 3/4d each. He
requested his body to be buried in the churchyard of the cathedral conveniently
"near to his wives grave" (the plural is probably an error for wife's), but both
Edmund's and Elizabeth's burials are recorded in the parish register of St
Peter's. This may indicate a service only, followed by interment at the
cathedral, where registers for that period are now non-existent.
Further bequests in Edmund's will of 1607 were made to his son Benjamin, who was
bequeathed £15 and all his father's wearing apparel with the exception of two
"best gowns", whilst Edmund's son Philipp was made residuary legatee of the will
and also the sole executor. There may have been some friction between Philipp
and his father, evinced by the statement in the will to the effect that if
Philipp did not take upon himself the probate of the will within 3 months after
his father's death, then he was not to be the executor and all the bequests made
to him, Philipp, were to be revoked. In which case, the joint executors were
then to be his son Edward and his son in law, Walter Morris (husband of
Elizabeth, Edmund's daughter). However, probate was granted to Philipp in July
1607, 2 months after his father's decease.
